A unique business
John Dickinson, supported by his wife, Anne, travelled to the UK for 3 months to get to understand Forever Living Products (FLP), and bring it back to South Africa. Whilst John and Anne knew that FLP had been operating in South Africa for more than 10 years, they were intent on learning as much as possible, face-to-face, from some of the world’s best Network-Marketers - as well as testing their shared ideas, learned over more than 20 years in Marketing and Leadership development. The result is ‘THE SYNERGY CYCLE’, a simple, user-friendly and track-proven approach that includes some unique ideas that are being used to win/win advantage within Team Synergy.
Our Story
Like so many who have been in their own business for many years, Anne and I have enjoyed a good measure of success in our respective businesses, but we have never been free. We have remained dependent on the businesses that we have consulted to. No matter how powerful our relationships with them, there was never any permanence and no guarantee of a retirement income. Besides, if we were ever sick, our income dried up in an instant. We had been looking for something different for a number of years, but none of the businesses that we looked into, and there were a number of them, stacked up at the final reckoning.
Being South African, we had heard of Aloe Vera but had associated it with cosmetics, and never paid it much attention. And then we were introduced to FLP…
Forever Living had us interested; so interested that I flew across to the UK for 3 months to learn more about it, start a UK Team, and assess the potential for bringing it back to South Africa. We knew that the business was already in South Africa, but we wanted to be sure to bring it home in a format that we were entirely comfortable with. I needed to meet with key people in the UK, knowing that, if we decided to go with it, it would be for the rest of our lives.
I arrived in the UK, confident in the business model, and expecting the products to be good. In fact the products turned out to be a revelation. I was delighted to discover that there are nearly 200 of them and that they are not just world-class, but in many instances life-changing too. Their products have helped millions of people who previously suffered from the likes of Eczema, Psoriasis, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Diverticulitis, Hayfever, Sinusitis, Asthma, Acne, Candida, Ulcers, Athlete’s Foot, Osteo-Arthritis, and High Blood Pressure – amongst many other challenging conditions. There are also household products, such as an MPD (Multi-Purpose-Detergent), personal products, such as toothpaste, shampoos, first-aid and make-up, and a weight-loss programme. Every person that john met, who is in the business and using the products, reported waking up each day, excited about life and more energised than they could remember.
Forever’s Aloe Vera Drinking Gels were the very first to be awarded the IASC seal (International Aloe Science Council). Their products are not tested on animals, and bear Kosher and Islamic seals, making for a truly global appeal. Forever’s gel was also the first to be used, successfully, in a double-blind placebo-controlled trial as a treatment for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
Forever have cleverly combined the multiple, and documented, health benefits and healing properties of Aloe Vera, with the immune-boosting and natural antibiotic properties of bee propolis (the lining found inside beehives).
The business is fanatically focused on improving people’s health. FLP is the world’s biggest supplier of Aloe Vera and Beehive products, owning from start to finish the organic farming, harvesting, production and distribution of these products. Their Aloe Vera is at least 95% pure and stabilised, using a patented formula that ensures it remains as near perfectly fresh as possible, for its journey to over 147 countries. Less than 5% of the final product is comprised of the necessary, natural and plant-derived preservatives, Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate (enzyme inactivators and anti-microbial), and other additives.
Many other companies retail Aloe Vera products containing smaller quantities of aloe vera, and which are used for topical (external) applications only. Forever, on the other hand, has won global acclaim for its aloe vera health drinks, and its extensive range of other health products.
Once I had been introduced to the products and learned more about the business, by attending the extensive training available in the UK, I knew that there was no turning back. In the process I met many people who have been able to leave their traditional jobs, so successful have their Forever businesses become. Apart from enjoying improved health and a lifestyle of choice, they are earning incomes ranging from a few thousand Rands, to tens and even hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions of Rands, each month. To say that we were excited would be an understatement.
In summary, we had found a business model, described by Robert Kiyosaki (of Rich Dad Poor Dad fame) as ‘The Business of the 21st Century’, that can change the lives of everybody we know, backed up by first-class products. It’s a winning formula which, over 33 years, has grown to the point that it is now touching the lives of people, every day, in 150 countries. It’s a stable and expanding business which is especially appealing to people during economically tough times; because it offers them a part-time or full-time alternative to normal employment – allowing them to take charge of their health, their lifestyle, and their financial destiny.
Best of all, it really isn’t about selling products. Rather, it is about personally enjoying their many health benefits, recommending them to others, and enjoying the life-long and willable financial benefits that accrue.
Anne very quickly bought into the products, following her introduction to the make-up range, and the clearing up of her own case of eczema, which she had suffered with for most of her life, within a week. Once she was sold on the products, the business model soon followed. It has inspired her in a way that neither of us could have anticipated. She absolutely gets what is possible – the opportunity to make a difference out there and to seriously take charge of our own destiny; as well as securing our daughter’s education.
We are now operating as a Team dedicated to sharing this opportunity with key people whom we believe have what it takes to make a success of it – by helping and supporting others to take charge of their future too.
